Influência de conhecimentos, habilidades e atitudes dos profissionais de saúde na propensão para a notificação de incidentes/eventos adversos

A redução de riscos é de vital importância para a melhoria da qualidade doscuidados de saúde e, como tal, a segurança do doente e a gestão do risco clínico tornaram-se uma parte importante da gestão hospitalar. Neste contexto, os sistemas de notificação de erros (incidentes/eventos adversos) representam uma ferramenta importante para uma gestão eficaz dos riscos, permitindo a identificação dos mesmos e das causas subjacentes, facilitando a aprendizagem e impedindo a recorrência dos mesmos.
Embora seja reconhecida a importância da notificação de erros para a garantia da segurança do doente, continua a haver uma subnotificação dos mesmos. Baseado numa preocupação em conhecer as razões que influenciam o compromisso com a segurança do doente e a notificação de erros, este estudo analisa, através de uma investigação empírica, a potencial influência do nível de conhecimentos, habilidades e atitudes dos profissionais de saúde relativamente à segurança do doente, na frequência de notificação de erros. Utilizou-se como método de colheita de dados o questionário on-line obtendo-se uma amostra de 152 questionários respondidos por profissionais de saúde. Através de um modelo de regressão linear múltipla concluiu-se que os conhecimentos, habilidades e atitudes dos profissionais apenas explicam 11,8% da variação na frequência de notificação de eventos adversos e que apenas os conhecimentos tem valor preditivo na frequência de notificação.
