Os Rankings Internacionais enquanto ferramenta estratégica para a gestão e melhoria do desempenho institucional

Este artigo investiga o potencial dos rankings internacionais como instrumentos de avaliação do desempenho e orientadores da evolução estratégica das instituições de ensino superior (IES), com um foco particular no Instituto Politécnico de Viana do Castelo (IPVC).

Através da análise dos indicadores e critérios dos rankings aplicáveis a IES, o IPVC tem adotado utilizado estas ferramentas para diagnosticar áreas de melhoria e estabelecer metas estratégicas quantificáveis, incluindo a redução do consumo de energia, a promoção da inclusão social e o fortalecimento da investigação voltada para áreas como a sustentabilidade.

A monitorização contínua desses indicadores tem favorecido uma cultura de melhoria contínua e facilitado a tomada de decisões informadas pela gestão institucional. A participação periódica nestes rankings também contribui para aumentar a visibilidade e a reputação internacional do IPVC, destacando-o como uma instituição comprometida com os Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS). Além disso, esta abordagem fomenta a adoção de boas práticas institucionais e o envolvimento da comunidade académica, promovendo um ambiente de responsabilidade social e ambiental.

Em resumo, os rankings podem representar uma ferramenta estratégica de grande potencial para o IPVC, não apenas para avaliar e melhorar o seu desempenho, mas também para fortalecer a sua posição como referência em sustentabilidade e inovação no ensino superior.
