Employee-Driven Innovation in Retail
Employee-Driven Innovation in Retail
In the very competitive and dynamic retail world of today, encouraging innovation within companies has become crucial. Drawing on theories of organisational behaviour and innovation management, this paper explores the importance of organisational innovation in the digital age focusing on the retail sector. More specifically, it explores the employee-driven innovation (EDI) in retail. It examines different types of EDI that emerges from different levels of an organisation, including management, employees and entrepreneurs’ initiatives but needs employee efforts and involvement. Drivers and barriers for EDI are also presented and discussed. Finally, a novel framework for EDI is presented to better capture the complexity of the process and its organisational context.
